Revitalizing Tradition: Great Council of Chiefs Complex Reconstruction Progresses

The renovation of the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) Vale ni Bose complex is making significant progress. The iTaukei Trust Fund Board announced that the first phase of the renovation is complete and that work on the second phase has begun.

The Trust Fund Board stated that practical completion is targeted for mid-2025, with careful planning in place to meet deadlines while ensuring quality and safety standards are upheld. The project team is dedicated to efficiently executing Phase 2 to achieve all scheduled milestones.

Cooperation among contractors, architects, and stakeholders has been smooth, with ongoing updates and progress evaluations to keep the project aligned with its timeline. The prior GCC complex, which was destroyed by a fire in 2020, has received a $6 million insurance payout to fund its reconstruction.

Phase two of the renovation aims to enhance both the functionality and design of the facility, aligning with its intended purpose. The project is expected to add substantial value, not only for the meetings of the Great Council of Chiefs but also for future users of the space.

Pacific Building Solutions is leading the construction efforts.
