Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a high standard, with an emphasis on beautification and improved public services. Council special administrator Samuela Ligairi expressed the intention to transform the park into an activity hub where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the need for the council to understand the types of amenities residents desire, revealing plans to install benches for visitors to rest while enjoying the park. This year, the council has initiated various projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are committed to providing the best service to our people,” Ligairi stated. He also highlighted that in addition to beautifying and upgrading municipal parks, residents play a crucial role in maintaining these facilities, stressing the importance of proper rubbish disposal to prevent littering.
To address littering, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been installed throughout the town to monitor offenders. Ligairi encouraged corporate entities to engage in council-led clean-up initiatives and to conduct their own clean-up efforts at least once a month, stating, “This will enhance the cleanliness of the township and encourage more visitors.”
