The Kadavu Medical Team, in partnership with the staff from Sai Prema Children’s Hospital, successfully held their inaugural ECHO Outreach day in Daviqele, Nabukelevu, focused on children’s heart health. This initiative involved performing echocardiograms, a crucial procedure that helps identify various heart problems, including damage resulting from heart attacks, heart failure, and congenital heart defects.

To overcome transportation challenges, the Ministry facilitated complimentary transport for children and their guardians traveling to and from the screening site. This effort ensured greater accessibility for families in need of medical services.

During the outreach, a total of 395 children underwent screenings, resulting in the identification of 19 new cases of Rheumatic Heart Disease, alongside those already known to have congenital heart defects.

This outreach initiative highlights the commitment to improving child health in the region and emphasizes the importance of preventive screenings. It showcases how collaboration among various medical teams can yield significant benefits for the communities they serve. The hope is that with continued efforts in awareness and treatment, more children will receive the necessary care to lead healthier lives.
