This week, the Ministry of Public Works, Meteorological Services and Transport received SHANTUI branded heavy machinery from Vision Motors. The delivered equipment consisted of two large excavators, two D6 bulldozers, two dumper trucks, and two flat top trucks, with a total value exceeding $1.62 million.
Permanent Secretary Paula Baleilevuka accepted the machines on behalf of the ministry, noting that this is the first new set of equipment the ministry has received in over a decade. He remarked, “With these vehicles in our fleet, we will serve our people better by enhancing our capacity for maintenance work in rural and remote areas and providing active assistance during emergencies.”
Ajay Lal, the dealer principal at Vision Motors, praised the ministry for selecting his company as its dealer, assuring that they will meet every demand and support every brand they offer. He highlighted that the SHANTUI brand, which has roots dating back to 1953 in China, serves as a significant technological partner to the globally recognized brand Caterpillar, while being four times less expensive.
Baleilevuka added that the new machines will directly assist with both planned and ongoing projects within the ministry. Furthermore, the ministry anticipates adding more large equipment to its fleet during this financial year.
