Plans are underway to enhance municipal facilities and upgrade Lions Park to a high standard, including beautification projects and improved public services. Council special administrator Samuela Ligairi stated that the goal is to turn the park into a vibrant hub where both residents and visitors can unwind and enjoy their leisure time.
Ligairi emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of the community, mentioning that benches will be installed for people to take a break in the park. This year, the council has initiated various projects aimed at enhancing community services, including the installation of over 20 seating benches in strategic locations around the town.
“We are dedicated to providing the best service for our people,” he remarked.
He also pointed out that while beautifying and upgrading municipal parks is crucial, it is equally important for residents to take responsibility for these facilities. He highlighted the necessity of proper waste disposal to prevent littering. In an effort to monitor and deter littering, several closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have been placed throughout the town.
Ligairi encouraged local businesses to join in council-led clean-up initiatives and to organize their own clean-up events at least once a month. “This will improve the cleanliness of the township and attract more visitors,” he added.
