The Fijian government has assigned the iTaukei Affairs Ministry with the responsibility of reviewing the iTaukei Administration in order to enhance its efficiency and bolster the economic and social well-being of the iTaukei people.
Ifereimi Vasu, the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts, has received findings from the review and the establishment of Provincial Economic Units presented by consultancy teams led by Dr. Jone Baledrokadroka and Dr. Jone Lako.
These findings are the result of four months of comprehensive consultations that involved various stakeholders, including government and non-government organizations, businesses, civil society, academic institutions, and provincial councils.
Vasu expressed his appreciation for the teams’ thorough efforts and confirmed that the recommendations will be submitted to the Great Council of Chiefs, the iTaukei Affairs Board, and the Cabinet for their consideration.
