Revamped Resort: A New Era for Fiji’s Hospitality Scene

Damend Gounder, managing director of Yatule Resort and Spa and Tour Managers Fiji group, highlighted the significant role of stakeholder support in fostering an environment conducive to the growth of local businesses. He made these remarks during the unveiling of the newly refurbished $5 million Yatule Resort and Spa in Natadola, Sigatoka on Monday.

“The success of this strategy is evident in the newly enhanced Yatule Resort and Spa, which not only delivers substantial returns but also opens exciting avenues for growth and expansion,” Gounder stated. He emphasized the importance of collaboration for the sustainability of smaller enterprises in Fiji.

As a representative of Tour Managers, Gounder expressed pride in their achievements while acknowledging the journey ahead, stating, “Our vision is to expand our network and management capabilities.”

Viliame Vodonaivalu, the chief executive officer of the Fiji National Provident Fund, noted that the project would benefit fund members and positively impact the broader economy. He recalled the resort’s origins, stating, “Yatule Beach Resort was initially established in 2005 to provide accommodation for consultants and contractors involved in the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa project.” After the project’s completion, the Yatule Beach Resort was transformed into a bungalow-style accommodation featuring 11 bures, along with a restaurant and bar.

Situated in a prime location adjacent to the renowned Natadola Beach, the resort aims to meet international travel demands and create job opportunities through its lease and operation contract with FNPF.
