Workers returning from overseas programs are increasingly becoming essential contributors to their families and communities, both financially and in terms of valuable skills that enhance local productivity. This observation was made by Employment and Work Relations Minister Agni Deo Singh during the launch of the National Employment Center’s Local Employment Registration System.

Minister Singh emphasized the importance of pre-departure training for workers, urging them to remember their families and responsibilities while abroad. He highlighted the necessity for these workers to send back remittances, vital for supporting their households back home.

He pointed out that returning workers bring back not only financial support but also a wealth of experience that can significantly benefit local businesses and stimulate economic growth. According to Singh, these contributions are particularly crucial in developing countries, where labor mobility can lead to a depletion of talent and resources.

“Labour mobility is a serious issue for developing countries like ours,” Singh remarked. “While we cannot prevent individuals from seeking better opportunities abroad, it is essential to enhance our training and preparation of the workforce. This will enable us to support our economic development effectively.”

The Minister expressed optimism that by ensuring returning workers maintain their financial contributions to families and harness the skills gained overseas, the government anticipates increased productivity at both local and national levels. This holistic approach not only supports individual families but also fosters overall economic resilience within communities.
