The Nadi Sub-divisional Medical Hospital has recently benefited from generous contributions from local resorts, highlighting the spirit of community support and corporate social responsibility. Following a significant $40,000 donation from Radisson Blu Resort Fiji Denarau Island to renovate the Women’s Medical Ward washroom facilities, Club Wyndham Denarau Island also stepped in last week, donating a Vital Signs Monitor valued at over $10,000 for the General Outpatients Department (GOPD).
The Vital Signs Monitor is a crucial medical device, allowing healthcare professionals to keep track of important patient metrics, including temperature, heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and respiratory rate. Neomai Matai, Assistant Resort Manager at Wyndham, described the donation as a small gesture aimed at helping the community. She expressed gratitude to the Nadi Hospital Board of Visitors Trust (NHBVT) for providing the opportunity to contribute to such a vital aspect of patient care.
NHBVT chairman Mohammed Israr Khan emphasized the importance of this equipment for the hospital, which sees around 350 patients daily. He noted that the donated monitor would enhance patient care significantly. Khan also shared plans for larger projects targeting health services in 2025 and expressed hope to engage more partners in these initiatives.
This ongoing collaboration between the resorts and the hospital underscores a broader commitment to improving healthcare facilities for the local community. The previous renovations and contributions, including the update to the women’s washroom— which will benefit over 20,000 patients in a population of 70,000— demonstrate a profound impact on community well-being.
These initiatives highlight the power of collective efforts in addressing health care challenges, paving the way for a stronger, healthier future for all residents in Nadi. With a strong foundation of support and partnership, there is hope for ongoing improvements in local healthcare services, illustrating the significant role that corporate social responsibility plays in enhancing community health.
