Students from a private school in Nadi were reportedly subjected to both physical and mental abuse by a resort owner in Rakiraki during an excursion. According to reliable sources, the incident occurred when the students, likely in years six and seven, were on a trip and had stopped by the resort for an overnight stay.

An eyewitness account reveals that the students had purchased food and drinks from a café after returning from Navala Village but were confronted by the resort owner upon their arrival. The owner allegedly used vulgar language and physically attacked the students when they were told that outside food and drinks were not permitted.

Despite attempts by the students to explain the situation, the confrontation escalated. Police were called to the scene as the situation deteriorated, and it is reported that the students were made to leave the resort and were subsequently transferred to another nearby hotel for the night. They are expected to return to Nadi the following day.

This incident has raised serious concerns about the treatment of guests, particularly vulnerable individuals like children, in hospitality settings. The eyewitness expressed alarm about the resort owner’s behavior and its potential lasting impact on the affected students.

Efforts are ongoing to obtain updates from local authorities and the resort regarding their response to this troubling incident.

The incident highlights the need for improved guest treatment and safety measures within the hospitality industry to prevent such behaviors in the future. As investigations progress, it is hoped that responsible actions will be taken to ensure that all guests, especially minors, can enjoy their trips without fear of mistreatment.
