Joana Adimila, a dedicated stay-at-home mother, has successfully pursued her educational aspirations despite her circumstances. After more than ten years away from formal education, she fully engaged in a 12-week training program offered by the Australia Pacific Training Coalition (APTC).

Her jewellery business had been her primary source of income, yet Ms. Adimila continually sought new opportunities amid financial struggles. “Experiencing what it’s like to be a student again after years at home was refreshing,” she expressed, adding her gratitude for APTC’s support that allowed her to explore new avenues.

On Wednesday, she celebrated her graduation with a Certificate II in Engineering Pathways, focusing on welding and fabrication. While she acknowledged the challenges of entering a male-dominated industry, she emphasized the importance of increasing female representation in engineering fields.

Transitioning from running her small business to pursuing other career options has been challenging, but Ms. Adimila is optimistic. “I am ready with my newly acquired knowledge because I want to have a better future,” she remarked.
