Simran Chandra, a 43-year-old market vendor in Tavakubu, has successfully built her business over the past eight years while simultaneously battling breast cancer and managing two market stalls. Despite her diagnosis, Ms. Chandra continues to operate her business with the support of her family.

Her journey began when she started selling pineapples on the street, eventually leading her to become a well-respected vendor in Lautoka. She has become a prominent figure among female market sellers in her community, highlighting the hard work and determination of women entrepreneurs.

“The women I’ve met here are incredibly hardworking. We’ve all started from scratch and built something we can be proud of,” she stated. Although her struggle with breast cancer has been tough, Ms. Chandra remains resilient thanks to the unwavering support of her family, particularly her mother and son, who have been with her throughout her treatment.
