Joshika Lata’s inspiring journey exemplifies resilience, determination, and the profound impact of education. Recently appointed as the General Manager of the JP Bayly Trust, a charitable organization dedicated to supporting those in need, her story serves as an uplifting beacon for individuals facing adversity.

Lata’s educational path began in 1990 at the Frank Hilton School, which caters to students with disabilities. She faced numerous challenges, including bullying due to a physical deformity in her arms, but remained steadfast in her belief in the “transformative power of education.” Graduating from secondary school at DAV College in Nabua marked a life-changing moment for her.

Following her graduation, she pursued a diploma in business management at the Fiji Institute of Technology, graduating in 2005. Her early career as a spare parts clerk evolved into accounting roles, inspired by her father’s strong work ethic. Lata balanced her full-time employment with her studies, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fiji National University.

In 2018, Lata joined the JP Bayly Trust as an accounts clerk. Her hard work and commitment were soon recognized, leading her to achieve a postgraduate degree by 2020. The pivotal moment in her career came in April 2024 when she was appointed General Manager during a board meeting that left her in tears of joy.

Now in her role, Lata is dedicated to mentoring others, particularly young people facing similar challenges. She expresses a strong desire to be a role model, emphasizing that success is attainable regardless of adversity.
