Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has confirmed that his office received a complaint regarding Permanent Secretary Pita Wise, which he subsequently forwarded to Parmesh Chand, the Permanent Secretary for Civil Service. In a media briefing, Rabuka stated that Wise resigned shortly after a meeting with Luke Rokovada, the Chairperson of the Public Service Commission.
The Prime Minister did not disclose the specifics of the complaint but mentioned that he has recommended several candidates to the Public Service Commission to temporarily fill the position. Additionally, Rabuka has encouraged former Permanent Secretaries who have served in the Office of the Prime Minister to express their interest in the acting role.
Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police – Crime Mesake Waqa indicated that there is currently no report filed with police regarding this matter. Earlier, the Public Service Commission had announced that Wise’s resignation from civil service was voluntary and due to personal reasons.
