The Fiji Meteorological Service has reported that Tropical Depression TD07F is positioned far to the west of Fiji, yet its rainbands and strong winds are impacting various regions across the country. As of 6 AM today, TD07F was recorded approximately 580 kilometers west-southwest of Kadavu and 800 kilometers west of Ono-i-Lau, traveling southward at a rapid pace of 38 kilometers per hour.
Fortunately, the system is not anticipated to evolve into a tropical cyclone, as it is moving into less favorable conditions for further intensification. However, the remnants of TD07F continue to affect the Yasawa and Mamanuca island groups, western Viti Levu, western Vanua Levu, and surrounding areas with rain and strong northwesterly winds.
A notable wind gust reaching 70 kilometers per hour was observed in Nadi last night, underscoring the severity of the associated weather conditions. The Fiji Meteorological Service is actively monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary. They also advise the public to stay alert and take safety precautions, especially in regions currently experiencing strong winds and heavy rainfall.
This vigilant monitoring and proactive communication from the Fiji Meteorological Service aims to ensure the safety and preparedness of the public during these weather events.
