Families, friends, and colleagues from the media community gathered at the Girmit Multicultural Centre in Lautoka to pay their respects to Zanzeer Singh, a former senior sports journalist for The Fiji Times, who passed away at the age of 49. Heartfelt tributes highlighted his fulfilling life characterized by love and dedication as a father of two.
Ana Niumataiwalu, a former sports journalist at The Fiji Times and a close friend of Singh, remembered him as a larger-than-life personality. She reflected on their last conversation, where he expressed hope to see her again soon during his battle with illness.
Waisea Nasokia, the West editor for Fiji Sun, spoke highly of Singh, whom he considered a mentor and a brilliant reporter who commanded great respect in the media industry. He commended Singh for being honest and gifted with words, noting that he learned much from him throughout his career. Nasokia also mentioned Singh’s generosity, stating he always shared what he had with others and underscoring his status as a remarkable and legendary figure.
Singh had a notable 20-year career with The Fiji Times before being cremated at Lovu Cemetery.
