Families, friends, and colleagues from the media community gathered to honor the memory of Zanzeer Singh, a former senior sports journalist for The Fiji Times, at the Girmit Multicultural Centre in Lautoka yesterday.

Emotional tributes conveyed the essence of a life filled with love and purpose for the 49-year-old father of two. Ana Niumataiwalu, a former sports journalist and close friend, spoke fondly of Singh, affectionately known as “Zan.” She remarked on his vibrant personality, emphasizing that he was more than just a colleague.

“I visited Zan when his illness worsened. Our last exchange was ‘I will see you when I get back’,” she shared.

Waisea Nasokia, the West editor of Fiji Sun, also expressed his admiration for Singh, regarding him as a mentor and an exceptional reporter who commanded great respect in journalism. “He was always straightforward and a fantastic wordsmith. I grew up reading his articles and learned a lot from him,” Nasokia noted.

He added that Singh had a generous spirit, always willing to share what he had with others. “Overall, he was a remarkable man and a legend in his own right. I am grateful to his family for their care; he was a resilient individual.”

Zanzeer Singh dedicated 20 years of his life to The Fiji Times and was cremated at Lovu Cemetery yesterday.
