Beyond his business accomplishments, Maharaj was an active participant in community development, engaging with various charitable organizations. He has been a member of the Rotary Club since 1990 and previously served as the national president of the Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.

Prime Minister Rabuka also noted that Maharaj attended the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington, which Rabuka had also attended, reflecting on his significance as a family man, a cherished grandfather, a great-grandfather, and a valued mentor in many lives.

Rabuka concluded his tribute with a heartfelt farewell, saying, “Moce to’a mada Diwan, may your soul rest in peace.”
