The Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, Sashi Kiran, paid tribute to Semi Bukarau, a senior welfare officer in her ministry, who passed away last week after a brief illness. Leading a delegation, Ms. Kiran accompanied Mr. Bukarau on his final journey home, reflecting the emotional weight of the loss felt by the community.

In her heartfelt tribute, Ms. Kiran expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Mr. Bukarau. “It’s a heartbreaking farewell for an officer who served our people well. At the age of 47, Mr. Bukarau had a commendable 27-year career within the Fiji Civil Service, spending 24 years as a welfare officer in the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection. The minister’s delegation included Permanent Secretary Eseta Nadakuitavuki, Commissioner Central Josefa Navuku, and other ministry staff, all honoring Mr. Bukarau’s enduring legacy.
