Anthony Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, believes that the defeated fighter will likely face Daniel Dubois in a rematch. Joshua, 34, suffered a knockout in the fifth round against Dubois in their highly anticipated match at Wembley Stadium, losing the IBF world heavyweight title. However, indications suggest that Joshua is preparing for a chance to challenge his 27-year-old rival again.
Hearn expressed confidence in the possibility of a rematch, stating, “I am sure he’ll exercise that rematch clause. I think that’s a given. But he’ll need a rest and it’s a dangerous fight. This guy (Dubois) is growing in confidence, but Joshua will believe he can hurt him and that he can win.” Hearn also praised Dubois for his impressive performance during the fight.
On the other side, Dubois’ promoter, Frank Warren, is interested in seeing Dubois take on Oleksandr Usyk, who is set to fight Tyson Fury again in December. Warren noted, “Oleksandr Usyk is currently considered the best heavyweight in the world, and he gave Dubois his toughest fight back in 2023. I’d like to see him fight Usyk now, but first he has to deal with Tyson Fury.”
Dubois expressed his ambition, stating, “Maybe Usyk, a big shot at my redemption. Anyone can get it. I’ve just been on a rollercoaster ride. This is my time, this is my redemption story, and I’m not going to stop until I reach my full potential.”
In a reflective moment after suffering his fourth professional loss, Joshua acknowledged Dubois’ victory, saying, “Credit to him and his team. We rolled the dice for success and came up short. But I want to thank everyone at Wembley for coming out this evening.” He also emphasized his desire to remain composed and respectful towards his opponent despite his disappointment.
