Relief supplies have been delivered to families affected by recent flooding at four evacuation centers in Ba and Lautoka. The initiative, spearheaded by Mosese Bulitavu, the Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management, alongside emergency teams from the Western Division, aims to provide essential support to those impacted by the disaster.
Minister Bulitavu visited several locations including Nasolo Village Hall and Nailaga Village Hall in Ba, as well as Lovu Sangam Primary School and the Sun Black Apartment in Lautoka. During these visits, families received vital non-food items (NFIs) that will assist them in addressing immediate needs as they begin the recovery process and prepare to return home.
In his address, Bulitavu expressed gratitude to the families for complying with official safety advisories by relocating to evacuation centers. He urged those affected to utilize the provided supplies while they focus on rebuilding their homes and restoring their livelihoods.
The Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management also extended its thanks to the Governments of Australia and New Zealand for their generous contributions in supporting the provision of essential supplies, which are crucial for the recovery of the affected communities in the aftermath of the floods. This collaboration highlights the importance of international aid in humanitarian efforts and reinforces the spirit of unity in times of crisis.
Communities can find reassurance in these collective efforts as they navigate the challenges ahead, inspired by the support from both local authorities and international partners.
