Nasinu Secondary School is gearing up for a highly anticipated rematch against defending champions Queen Victoria School (QVS) in the Vodafone Super Deans under-18 quarter-final this Saturday. This showdown will echo the 2023 final, where Nasinu suffered a defeat with a score of 13-27, and they are now seeking redemption as they aim to dethrone the reigning champions.

Nasinu enters this quarter-final on a high note, having delivered an impressive performance last weekend with a decisive 57-10 victory over Nabala Secondary School in the playoffs. The team’s Assistant Principal, Dan Vakamoce, praised Nabala for their competitiveness but emphasized Nasinu’s preparedness and resilience after regrouping following their earlier loss to Suva Grammar in the zone semi-finals.

Vakamoce explained that the focus now shifts to thorough analyses of their performance to correct past mistakes, stating, “We will be going back to our drawing board, and we will analyze our mistakes.” He also highlighted the importance of effective communication and strategy as they prepare to face a formidable opponent like QVS, known for its legacy in secondary school rugby.

The upcoming quarter-final match at Churchill Park 1 in Lautoka is not just a chance for redemption for Nasinu, but also an opportunity for their supporters and alumni to rally behind them. With so much at stake, both teams are expected to deliver their best performance on the field.

This clash not only represents a battle for a semi-final spot but also reflects the growth and determination of the Nasinu rugby program, striving to establish itself in Fiji’s storied rugby history. With the players motivated and the support of their community, there is hope that Nasinu may finally claim the title that has eluded them for years.

The match is slated to kick off at 5:10 PM on Saturday, promising an exciting showdown in youth rugby that captures the spirit and passion of the game’s future stars.
