The 93rd Lautoka Open Pro-AM Golf Championship, sponsored by Shop N Save Supermarket, is set to feature a record participation of over 100 golfers from Fiji and abroad. The prestigious event will kick off at 7am this Saturday at the Lautoka Golf Club, promising a thrilling day of competition.
James Krishna, captain of the Lautoka Golf Club, has highlighted the strong lineup in both the professional and amateur categories. “The fine weather has allowed the fairways and cart tracks to be fully mowed, ensuring they are in excellent condition for the players,” he stated.
As part of the sponsorship, Shop N Save Supermarket will offer prizes for the Gross and Nett Divisions across nine holes, while ensuring that junior golfers are well accommodated in the competition. The Fiji Professional Golf Association continues to be a reliable partner for the Lautoka Golf Club, with president Vikrant Chandra bringing in 17 top professional golfers to compete for a cash prize purse of $7,000.
Raymond Singh, chairman of the trustees, has also announced that over 40 prizes will be available, along with sponsors’ sublimated T-shirts and a traditional lovo lunch for all participants. With Shop N Save Supermarket, led by directors Neeshil Deo and Babu Rattan Deo, continuing its support for the eighth consecutive year, the event underscores the importance of community backing in promoting sports.
