Record-Breaking Performance: Wainiqolo’s Unbelievable Feat in Rugby Match

Fiji Water Flying Fijians winger Jiuta Wainiqolo achieved a remarkable feat by beating 19 defenders during his team’s 30-17 victory over Montpellier over the weekend, setting a new record for defenders beaten in a single match. This accomplishment has been recognized as a new record across the top four rugby competitions: Top 14, Super Rugby, URC, and Premiership, according to statistics from Opta and RugbyPass.

The 25-year-old, who is also an Olympic 7s gold medallist, accumulated a total of 155 metres during the match, completing 10 carries and making 2 clean line breaks. Wainiqolo capped off the win with an impressive solo effort, picking up a loose ball and dodging six defenders to score from halfway in Round 7 of the French Top 14 competition.

In other matches, Olympic gold medalist Sireli Maqala contributed to his Bayonne team’s 32-15 victory over Racing 92, where Josua Tuisova also played. Additionally, fellow Fijian player Adrea Cocagi was sent off for a high elbow during Castres’ 35-13 triumph over Stade Francais.
