Telecom Fiji Limited, in collaboration with the Fiji Cancer Society, has successfully wrapped up its annual Charity Golf Tournament, which took place last month at the Vatuwaqa Golf Club in Suva. This tournament, now in its third consecutive year, attracted enthusiastic golfers, community leaders, and supporters. The event’s fundraising efforts reached a remarkable total of $33,420, setting a new record for the highest amount raised in its history.

The funds raised will enable the Fiji Cancer Society to enhance its outreach programs, improve resources, and expand patient support services, including the acquisition of vital equipment for cancer testing, diagnosis, and care. In addition, the tournament aligned with the Movember initiative by offering free PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) screenings in partnership with the Ministry of Health, underscoring the critical importance of early detection and preventative healthcare measures.
Charles Goundar, CEO of Telecom Fiji, expressed his appreciation, stating, “Supporting the Fiji Cancer Society is an honor for Telecom Fiji. This tournament is more than just a game—it’s a community commitment to fighting cancer. We’re proud to stand with FCS in making a tangible difference.” Similarly, Belinda Chan, CEO of the Fiji Cancer Society, underlined the event’s importance: “Cancer awareness through sports resonates deeply with many people. Every swing at this tournament represents a step toward reducing the burden of cancer in our communities. We are truly grateful for the generous support from Telecom Fiji and all our sponsors who made this event possible.”
Telecom Fiji continues to demonstrate its dedication as the leading telecommunications network provider in the country, while the Fiji Cancer Society remains a pivotal organization in the fight against cancer, advocating for awareness and providing essential patient support.
This collaborative event showcases not only the generosity of the participants but also highlights the power of community involvement in addressing significant health issues.
