This year, the Prime Minister’s International Business Awards (PMIBA) has received an impressive total of 249 applications across 15 categories, showcasing the vibrancy of Fiji’s business community. Investment Fiji, the event’s organizer, anticipates an attendance of over 700 delegates for PMIBA 2024, set to take place tomorrow evening at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau.
Kamal Chetty, CEO of Investment Fiji, expressed excitement about the strong response to the awards this year. He noted that the record attendance highlights the event’s growing significance within the business sector and the rising acknowledgment of Fijian enterprises on the global stage.
The PMIBA serves as a platform to celebrate Fiji’s leading businesses and inspire future entrepreneurs. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka emphasized that the awards recognize businesses that have successfully navigated challenges while contributing to a sustainable future. He stated that the Fiji Government is proud to support those committed to innovation and sustainability, crucial elements for national economic growth, which also prioritize environmental and social responsibility.
This year’s theme, “Innovation & Sustainability,” focuses on honoring businesses of all sizes and from all sectors that have achieved success through innovative strategies aimed at fostering a sustainable future. The Prime Minister expressed honor in hosting this prestigious event and looked forward to an unforgettable evening filled with opportunities to network with industry leaders, government officials, and other esteemed guests.
Notably, PMIBA 2024 will introduce four new award categories: The Employer of the Year Award, the Excellence in Fisheries Award, the Excellence in Forestry Award, and the Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration Award, adding even more depth to the competition among this year’s 15 categories.
In summary, the PMIBA is not just an awards ceremony but a celebration of resilience, innovation, and sustainability in Fiji’s business environment, reinforcing the country’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and responsible economic future.
This embrace of sustainability hints at a hopeful trend where businesses will increasingly recognize the importance of environmental stewardship, potentially leading to a greener and more prosperous Fiji.
