This year’s Prime Minister’s International Business Awards (PMIBA) has attracted an impressive 249 applications across 15 categories, highlighting the event’s significance within the business community. Scheduled to take place tomorrow at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Denarau, organizers from Investment Fiji anticipate over 700 delegates in attendance.
Kamal Chetty, the CEO of Investment Fiji, expressed excitement about the robust participation. He remarked that the record turnout signifies the increasing prominence of Fijian businesses on an international scale. The PMIBA serves as a pivotal platform for celebrating the accomplishments of Fiji’s leading businesses and inspiring young entrepreneurs.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka emphasized the awards’ recognition of companies that confront challenges while promoting sustainability. He commended the honorees for their commitment to innovation and eco-friendly practices that bolster national economic growth and social responsibility.
The awards theme this year is “Innovation & Sustainability,” aimed at honoring businesses of various sizes and sectors that have successfully integrated these values into their operations. In addition to the traditional categories, the event has introduced four new awards: The Employer of the Year Award, the Excellence in Fisheries Award, the Excellence in Forestry Award, and the Excellence in Yasana (Provincial) Aspiration Award, bringing the total to 15 categories.
The PMIBA promises an evening filled with networking opportunities among industry leaders, government officials, and other notable attendees, celebrating the forward-thinking businesses that are paving the way for a sustainable future in Fiji.
