The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) in Fiji has officially closed applications for its Child Education Support Scheme, having received an overwhelming total of more than 11,600 submissions from across the nation. National Executive Coordinator Nirmila Nambiar shared that the Foundation is now focused on a meticulous vetting process. The goal is to carefully enter and assess each submission, ensuring a rigorous and transparent selection of beneficiaries.

Successful applicants can expect notifications before the upcoming 2026 academic year, providing ample time for families to prepare before schools reopen. FENC Fiji has set its sights on supporting approximately 8,000 of the most vulnerable children this year, and is also expanding its initiative to include support for children in Early Childhood Education (ECE).

Since its inception in 2009, the Foundation has positively impacted over 40,000 children throughout the country by supplying essential educational resources. In the upcoming 2026 school year, FENC Fiji plans to continue its commitment by providing support to students from ECE through to Year 13. This includes supplying school bags, books, and stationery to alleviate the financial burdens faced by disadvantaged families.

FENC Fiji remains dedicated to enhancing access to education and ensuring that underprivileged children receive fair opportunities to succeed academically. This initiative not only emphasizes the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to education but also highlights the broader importance of fostering equitable learning environments for all children.
