Deputy Prime Minister and Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica emphasized the importance of rebuilding the nation as part of the Coalition Government’s commitment to stability. In response to the recently published National Security and Defence Review (NSDR) report, which pointed out the inconsistent messaging and decision-making of the previous government, Mr. Kamikamica acknowledged that the actions of former leaders had led to public concerns and a decline in trust.
The report highlighted various national security issues raised by stakeholders, with trust being a significant theme. “You only have to look at how we have conducted ourselves as a government over the last 16 years,” Mr. Kamikamica stated. He acknowledged the existence of public concerns and reiterated that rebuilding the country is crucial for achieving stability.
He underscored the necessity of trust in government and recognized that past governmental conduct has exacerbated these concerns. Mr. Kamikamica affirmed his full support for Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, reflecting a united front within the government.
