Businessman Nahroon Buksh has pleaded not guilty to a charge of obtaining a financial advantage by deception in a case brought before the Suva Magistrates Court on Thursday. The proceedings, presided over by Resident Magistrate Pulekeria Low, detailed allegations that between December 10, 2020, and August 23, 2021, Buksh falsely represented himself as a licensed real estate agent to persuade a couple to purchase a property in Kinoya that he did not own.
The prosecution claims that Buksh managed to unlawfully acquire $6,000 from the interested buyers through this deception. During the court session, it was revealed that the prosecution intends to call 13 witnesses, while the defense plans to present only Buksh himself. Notably, there are partial admissions from a prior caution interview, which the defense has chosen not to contest.
The court proceedings have been adjourned until February 3, 2025, with Buksh remaining out on bail.
