Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepens is set to return to the field this weekend, taking the fullback position for the Highlanders in their upcoming match against the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua. This marks Ratumaitavuki-Kneepens’ first appearance in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific this year, following an extended recovery from a neck injury sustained in last year’s National Provincial Championship.

The Highlanders are coming off a disappointing two-match tour in Australia and have yet to secure a win since round two of the season, currently sitting ninth on the league table. Head Coach Jamie Joseph emphasized the need for his team to start accumulating points if they wish to progress into the playoffs. “A tough tour to Australia in terms of results but the players are glad to be back in Dunedin with a few home games to look forward to,” Joseph noted, expressing optimism about the team’s potential in front of their home crowd.

Ratumaitavuki-Kneepens will be joined by co-captain Timoci Tavatavanawai at inside center and promising openside flanker Veveni Lasaqa in jersey number seven. The Highlanders will host the Drua at Forsyth Barr Stadium tomorrow at 7:05 PM, and both teams are eager to turn their fortunes around as the season continues.

In a related note, the Drua, who are also grappling with injuries, are anticipating a strong performance. Coach Glen Jackson has made strategic changes in the lineup, including some key adjustments to the leadership structure, aimed at revitalizing the team spirit and enhancing their competitive edge. Both teams are hopeful that leveraging their cultural roots and local support will inspire dynamic performances on the field.

As the match draws near, anticipation builds among fans, who look forward to witnessing Ratumaitavuki-Kneepens’ comeback and the Highlanders striving for a turning point in their season. The convergence of experienced players and fresh talent from both teams further heightens the excitement for this clash.
