The Suva City Council’s redevelopment of Ratu Sukuna Park is projected to cost nearly $7 million, significantly lower than the initially allocated budget of $13 million. This information was disclosed by Maciu Nalumisa, the Minister for Local Government, during a recent session in Parliament when addressing a question from Opposition MP Ioane Naivalurua.

Nalumisa emphasized that the aim of this project is to revamp the Park into a modern, multi-functional public area that caters to the needs of Suva’s expanding population and adheres to modern urban planning principles. He confirmed that the project is fully funded by the Suva City Council. The reopening of Ratu Sukuna Park is slated for later this month, marking a major investment in Suva’s future as part of a smart city initiative.
