The people of Namara village in Ra warmly welcomed Ratu Josaia Niudamu during his inaugural visit as the newly appointed Assistant Minister for Justice on Monday. This occasion marked his first official engagement since taking office just last Friday and was part of the Liwativale District consultation. The villagers expressed their appreciation for governmental involvement through a respectful and enthusiastic reception, which included warm greetings from the village elders.

Ratu Niudamu, who comes from both a formal legal background and a cultural heritage as a chief from Ra, noted his surprise and gratitude for the generous welcome he received. “I arrived for the Liwativale District consultation, and I didn’t expect to be showered with this welcome by the elders of the village,” he remarked, emphasizing the mutual respect exchanged between himself and the community.

With over a decade of legal experience, which includes a tenure at the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution and his own law practice, Niudamu brings significant expertise to his new position. He originally started his political career with the FijiFirst party but has recently joined the Group of 9 (G9), a coalition supporting Prime Minister Siromi Turaga’s government.

Looking forward, Ratu Niudamu has communicated his commitment to assist Minister Turaga in implementing various governmental frameworks in the lead-up to the next elections and hinted at potential future political aspirations of his own. His proactive stance and dedication to engaging with the populace signify a hopeful outlook for effective governance during his term in office.

This visit has not only reinforced the bond between the government and the Namara community but has also paved the way for constructive dialogue and collaborative efforts. The enthusiasm of the villagers highlights their eagerness for continued engagement with their leaders, fostering optimism for the potential positive changes that Ratu Niudamu can bring to his constituency and the country as a whole.
