The Ratu Navula College under-18 team experienced a significant boost in morale over the weekend, with a large turnout of supporters dressed in blue at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Parents traveled from the West to encourage their team as they competed against Mahatma Gandhi in the quarter-finals of the Vodafone Super Deans.

Taniela Vocevoce, president of the parents association, expressed that the community had been eagerly preparing for the match. “We anticipated today’s match, and we have been preparing for a long time,” he mentioned. Vocevoce noted the strong representation from Nadi, stating that nearly every village was present, along with supporters from the 14 provinces residing in the area.

Some parents made a long journey from Taveuni to cheer for their sons. “We are so grateful to our parents who traveled from other parts of Fiji and our old scholars,” he added, emphasizing their support.

Heading into the quarter-finals, the team felt optimistic about their chances for victory. Vocevoce confidently stated that the upcoming semi-finals would also attract a large crowd. “We are looking forward to next week’s game. We are confident something good is in place for us in that match,” he said.

The Dean’s Cup has historical significance for the team, as they have previously claimed the title and are focused on regaining that success. Vocevoce also expressed gratitude towards the traditional leaders of the Vanua of Nadi for their continued support and blessings.
