Ratu Navula College is serious about claiming the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This determination was expressed by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their quarterfinal victory against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School, with a score of 16-10.

In an interview, Qumi emphasized the team’s objective to reestablish the dominance of Western teams in the national finals. “MGM were favorites to win this year,” he remarked, acknowledging the strong reputation of their opponents when they arrived in Suva.

The RNC players demonstrated formidable defense in the closing minutes of the match, successfully preventing MGM from scoring. Qumi noted that even though they have advanced to the semifinals, there is still plenty of room for improvement. “There were mistakes but we will regroup and come back a better team,” he stated.

Looking ahead, RNC will face the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our biggest strength is the spiritual support from our families and the school,” Qumi added.
