Ratu Navula College is determined to secure victory in the Vodafone Deans Trophy. This was stated by the Under-18 team manager, Mitieli Qumi, following their narrow quarterfinal win of 16-10 against Mahatma Gandhi Memorial School.
In an interview with SUNsports, Qumi expressed the team’s ambition to restore the Western teams’ prominence in the national finals, acknowledging that MGM were considered favorites this year. “We admired them when we arrived in Suva as they were a very strong team,” he noted.
The RNC players showcased a fierce defense in the closing minutes of the match, effectively preventing MGM from scoring. Qumi recognized the need for improvement despite reaching the semifinals. “There were mistakes, but we will regroup and come back as a stronger team,” he stated.
RNC is set to face the defending Deans Trophy champions, Queen Victoria School, in the semifinals. “We are here for business and we are here to play. Our greatest strength lies in the spiritual support from our families and the school,” Qumi added.
