Ratu Navula College showcased their rugby prowess at the Vodafone Deans West Secondary Schools Rugby finals held at Churchill Park in Lautoka on Saturday, clinching three prestigious titles in the U14, U15, and U19 categories.

The Nadi-based institution kicked off their successful campaign with an automatic win in the U14 final, as their opponents, Tavua College, were unable to field a team due to unforeseen circumstances.

In the U15 final, Ratu Navula demonstrated strong tactical discipline and teamwork to secure a 19-7 victory over Natabua High School. Their solid defensive strategy and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities were key contributors to their success.

The highlight of the day came during the U19 final, where Ratu Navula edged a closely contested match against Ba Provincial Freebird Institute, winning 22-15. The U19 squad included several players from the Fiji U20 squad, showcasing their skill and control over possession. Their strategic kicking and physical play at the breakdown proved crucial in clinching victory. Captain Rupeni Nuinui, also part of the Fiji U20 extended squad, attributed the win to the team’s composure and collective faith. He emphasized their pre-match focus on humility and dedication, saying, “Winning all three grades is a huge blessing. We thank God for everything and acknowledge the support from our school and families.”

With these three commanding wins, Ratu Navula College has established itself as a formidable contender as they prepare for the upcoming national quarter-finals. Their triumphs not only reflect their hard work but also inspire hope and determination within the school community.

The recent success of Ratu Navula College in rugby mirrors the ongoing trends in Fijian school rugby where local institutions are increasingly recognizing the importance of mental resilience and strong community support, paving the way for future athletic achievements.
