Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. The team has an undefeated record since the Under-14 level.
Head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s preparation for the next season as they aim to restore their glory at Delainakaikai. “During halftime, I reminded the boys to tighten up their defense since this was the final match,” Naqicitabua commented. He emphasized the importance of minimizing mistakes during critical moments of the game.
Naqicitabua added that the players maintained their composure, particularly in the final 10 minutes of the match, which was crucial in securing the victory. He highlighted that the team’s unity and camaraderie were key factors in their success, noting that while many original players have moved on, the current squad has successfully upheld their legacy.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua stated, “It has been a long time since the school has sought to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be a challenging endeavor, but we are committed to preparing and working hard to bring back the glory.”
