Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak last Saturday by winning the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. The team has maintained an undefeated record since they started competing at the Under-14 level.
In a conversation with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the upcoming year as they aim to restore their school’s glory. “During halftime, I reminded the boys to tighten their defense since this is the final,” Naqicitabua noted. “We cannot afford to make lazy mistakes at critical moments during the match.”
He emphasized that the team was well-prepared and showed remarkable composure, particularly in the final ten minutes of the championship game, which allowed them to secure the victory.
“The key to our success lies in the unity and bond among the players. Although about 12 original team members have moved on, I commend the current boys for building this legacy,” he added.
When discussing the goals for next year, Naqicitabua stated, “I believe it has been a long time since the school has aimed to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be a challenge for us, but we are determined to prepare thoroughly and work hard to bring back the glory.”
