Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive winning streak last Saturday by clinching the Vodafone Deans Trophy in the Under-17 category. Remarkably, this team has maintained an undefeated record since the Under-14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s readiness for the next season, as they aim to restore their prominence in Delainakaikai. “During halftime, I encouraged the boys to tighten our defense, understanding the significance of this final,” Naqicitabua stated. “We must eliminate the lazy mistakes during critical moments of the match.”
He highlighted that the team’s preparation and composure during the final’s last ten minutes were pivotal in securing their victory.
“The key to our success lies in the unity and strong bond among the players. Although around 12 original members have moved on, the current squad deserves credit for continuing this legacy,” he added.
Looking ahead, Naqicitabua set his sights on next year’s goals, saying, “It has been a long time since the school pursued the Under-18 title. It will undoubtedly be a challenge, but we will prepare diligently to regain that glory.”
