Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive winning streak last Saturday by claiming the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title. The team has maintained an unbeaten record since the U14 level.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence that the team is well-prepared for the upcoming year as they aim to restore their glory in Delainakaikai. He noted that during halftime, he emphasized the importance of solid defense, stating, “We cannot keep on making lazy mistakes at crucial moments.”
Naqicitabua highlighted the team’s preparation and composure, particularly in the final ten minutes of the match, which played a crucial role in their victory. He credited the strong unity and camaraderie among the players for their success, despite the departure of about 12 original team members who helped establish the legacy.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua acknowledged the challenge of trying to reclaim the Under-18 title, which has been elusive for the school. He stated, “We will prepare ourselves and work hard to bring back the glory.”
