A new champion will be determined in the under-14 division of the Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Super Deans competition. Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) defeated defending champions Marist Brothers High School 13-0 in their semi-final match held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
From the beginning, both teams demonstrated a strong desire to win; however, it was RKS, based in Tailevu, that successfully turned their opportunities into points, ending the first half with a 5-0 lead after a tough battle.
The second half remained competitive, with the match still within reach for both sides. RKS continued to assert their dominance, scoring a try and converting a penalty to secure their victory.
Team manageress Eta Waqasaqa Vakalutugone stated that the win is dedicated to their under-18 and under-19 teams, who were eliminated in the quarter-finals. “For us at RKS, the under-18 team is particularly special, but they fell short in the quarter-finals, and we want to dedicate this win to them and to our under-19 team,” she said, referring to the U19 team as “timi ulumatua.”
The team attributed their success to the unwavering support from the school administration, alumni, and especially the parents who have been present from the start.
RKS will return to Suva next week for the grand final, contending for the title.
