A new champion will emerge in the under-14 category of the Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Super Deans competition. Ratu Kadavulevu School eliminated the reigning champions, Marist Brothers High School, with a decisive 13-0 victory in their semi-final match held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
From the start, both teams demonstrated a strong desire to win, but it was Ratu Kadavulevu that capitalized on their opportunities, ending the first half with a 5-0 lead in a tough contest. The second half remained competitive, but RKS took control again with another try and a successful penalty, sealing their victory.
Team manager Eta Waqasaqa Vakalutugone expressed that the win is dedicated to their under-18 and under-19 teams, who were eliminated in the quarter-finals. “In RKS, the U18 is a very special team but they fell short in the quarter-finals and we just want to dedicate this to them and to our U19. In RKS, we call our U19 as ‘timi ulumatua’ so this win is also for them,” she stated.
The team attributed their success to the unwavering support from the school administration, alumni, and especially the parents who have been supportive throughout the season. RKS will return to Suva next week for the grand final, vying for the championship title.
