A new champion will emerge in the under-14 category of the Fiji Secondary Schools Vodafone Super Deans competition. This follows Ratu Kadavulevu School’s decisive 13-0 victory over defending champions Marist Brothers High School in the semi-finals held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
Right from the start, both teams demonstrated their eagerness to win, but it was Ratu Kadavulevu School, based in Tailevu, that capitalized on their opportunities, ending the first half with a 5-0 lead after a fiercely contested half.
The second half remained competitive, but RKS continued to assert their dominance, scoring another try along with a successful penalty, sealing their victory.
Team manageress Eta Waqasaqa Vakalutugone expressed that this win is dedicated to their under-18 and under-19 teams, who were eliminated in the quarter-finals. “In RKS, the U18 is a very special team but they fell short in the quarter-finals, and we just want to dedicate this to them and to our U19,” she stated. The U19 team is affectionately known as ‘timi ulumatua’, and she emphasized this win is also for them.
The team attributed their success to the unwavering support from the school administration, alumni, and especially the parents who have been there since the beginning. RKS will return to Suva next week for the grand final, with the opportunity to claim the title.
