Ratu Kadavulevu School Marks 100 Years of Legacy and Innovation

Hundreds of former students from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) gathered at Albert Park to celebrate the school’s 100th anniversary. The chief guest at the event, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, emphasized the significant contributions the school has made since its founding in 1924. He commended RKS for its long-standing history and its role in nurturing influential individuals who have helped shape the nation’s progress.

The weeklong celebration will include a variety of activities and sports competitions. RKS, named after Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, the great-grandson of Ratu Cakobau, boasts a rich history that the community is proud to celebrate. The festivities commenced with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva on Sunday.

Today’s program, titled “Training and Investment Opportunity,” will take place at the Suva Civic Centre from 5:30 PM to 11 PM, designed to assist old scholars who are seeking employment through various ministry-led sessions aimed at empowerment and guidance.

Tomorrow, a Wellness and Sports Day is scheduled at Albert Park at 3 PM, featuring a competition between RKS and nearby Queen Victoria School. On Thursday, the events will kick off with a traditional ceremony that will educate current students about cultural practices, with Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, in attendance as the chief guest. Following lunch, a school pass-out parade will be led by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Ro Jone Kalouniwai.

Additionally, Prime Minister Rabuka called on the school community and parents to collaborate with the government in addressing drug abuse. He expressed his hope that RKS will continue to serve as a shining example and positively impact the country in the future.
