Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive winning streak by clinching the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. The team has maintained an undefeated record since the Under-14 grade.
In an interview with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence in the team’s preparations for the upcoming year as they aim to restore their school’s legacy in Delainakaikai. He emphasized the importance of strong defense during halftime, reminding the players to avoid making careless mistakes during critical moments in the match.
Naqicitabua praised the team for their composure, particularly in the final 10 minutes of the game, which contributed to their victory. He highlighted the unity and camaraderie among the players as the cornerstone of the team’s success. Despite losing about 12 initial members of the team, he commended the remaining players for establishing a significant legacy.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua acknowledged the school’s long pursuit of reclaiming the Under-18 title. He recognized the upcoming challenges but remains committed to rigorous preparation and hard work to bring the title back to the school.
