Ratu Kadavulevu School continued their impressive streak by clinching the Vodafone Deans Trophy Under-17 title last Saturday. The team has remained undefeated since the Under-14 grade.
In a conversation with SUNsports, head coach Usaia Naqicitabua expressed confidence for the upcoming year as they aim to reclaim glory for Delainakaikai. “During halftime, I advised the boys to tighten up on defense since this is the final,” Naqicitabua stated. “We can’t afford to make lazy mistakes at crucial moments in the match.”
He noted that the team was well-prepared and maintained their composure, particularly in the last ten minutes of the final, which helped them secure victory.
“The key to our success is the unity and bond among the players. Although about 12 original members who started this journey have moved on, I commend the current boys for upholding this legacy,” he added.
Looking ahead to next year, Naqicitabua stated, “I believe it has been a long time since the school has been striving to reclaim the Under-18 title. It will be a challenge for us, but we will prepare diligently and work hard to restore our glory.”
