Ratu Kadavulevu School Celebrates a Century of Excellence!

Hundreds of alumni from Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS) congregated at Albert Park yesterday to celebrate the school’s centenary.

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka, the chief guest, emphasized the significant contributions the school has made since its inception in 1924. He commended RKS for its long-standing history and its role in shaping influential leaders who have aided the nation’s progress. The celebrations will span a week and include various activities and sporting events.

RKS, named after Ratu Penaia Kadavulevu, the great-grandson of Ratu Cakobau, boasts a rich heritage that the community is proud to honor. The festivities kicked off on Sunday with a church service at the Centenary Church in Suva.

Today’s event is titled “Training and Investment Opportunity,” held from 5:30 PM to 11 PM at the Suva Civic Centre. It will provide former students facing employment challenges with sessions from various ministries aimed at empowerment and support.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will witness the Wellness and Sports Day at Albert Park at 3 PM, featuring a competition between RKS and neighboring Queen Victoria School, both all-boys boarding schools.

On Thursday, the events will begin with a traditional ceremony designed to educate current students about cultural practices, with Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, the Vunivalu na Tui Kaba, as the chief guest. Afterward, there will be a school pass-out parade, with Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, as the chief guest.

Prime Minister Rabuka also called on the school community and parents to collaborate with the government in combating drug abuse. He expressed his hope that RKS would remain a source of inspiration and continue to contribute positively to the nation in the years ahead.
