The outgoing Commanding Officer of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Luke Rogoyawa, emphasized the importance of responsibility that comes with ranks during a farewell from his officers last week. SSP Rogoyawa has chosen to resign from his position to spend more time with his family overseas.

In his farewell address, he stated, “Ranks come with responsibilities, not for decoration to beautify your look,” highlighting that discipline must not be overlooked within the police force. He urged his colleagues to consistently enforce disciplinary measures against those who undermine processes and procedures.

SSP Rogoyawa, who has been a part of the Fiji Police Force since 1995, acknowledged that maintaining consistency in discipline is a challenging yet crucial aspect of leadership. He also invoked the need for self-reflection, stating, “In our prayers, we acknowledge our life,” reminding officers of their duty not only to the force but also to themselves.

The message from SSP Rogoyawa serves as an important reminder that leadership is about accountability and integrity, reinforcing the values that ensure a thriving and disciplined organization. His commitment to these principles may inspire the current and future officers of the Fiji Police Force to uphold similar standards.

As the police force transitions to a new leadership era, there is hope that these values of responsibility and discipline will carry forward, contributing to a stronger, more accountable community-focused police service.
