Damodar Group has announced the opening of a new 40-room hotel in Labasa town, marking a significant advancement in local tourism and accommodation. The hotel is part of the broader Damodar City Labasa project, which has received a $60 million investment from Damodar North Pte Limited, with $10 million specifically allocated for the hotel’s construction and interior design.
Div Damodar, the chief executive officer of Damodar Group, stated that this newly branded hotel is expected to ignite interest from other brands to establish themselves in Labasa. He expressed enthusiasm for the potential it brings to the tourism industry in Vanualevu, suggesting that it will serve as a catalyst for further development in the area.
The introduction of the Ramada Encore brand in Labasa is anticipated to enhance the local tourism sector, offering new opportunities for the development of tourism-related activities, especially in the scenic regions around Labasa. Mr. Damodar emphasized the hotel’s role in showcasing Labasa’s untapped tourism potential.
The Ramada Encore by Wyndham – Labasa Damodar City hotel will feature 40 well-equipped rooms aimed at accommodating both business and leisure guests. The hotel will provide various amenities, including a conference venue, a swimming pool, a gym, outdoor seating and entertainment areas, as well as dining options, all aligned with the high standards of the Ramada Encore brand worldwide.
Looking towards the future, Mr. Damodar noted the possibility of various tourism activities in Labasa, such as hiking tours, river safaris, and fishing excursions.
Manoa Kamikamica, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, echoed the sentiment that the new hotel would elevate the hospitality standards in Labasa, highlighting the government’s commitment to support investment and development in the region. He emphasized that collaborations between private investors and government entities are crucial for ensuring Labasa meets present demands while also preparing for future growth.
